April Update

April has been somewhat productive.  We now have the water and sewer hooked up and all plumbing fixtures installed.  The floors are also finished.  We just have a few odds and ends remaining.  I'm shooting for the final inspection around the middle of next week.  I also hatched some chicks in my incubator in addition to the bantams I got from TSC.  Photos are attached for your perusal.

Water line under creek going to meter.  The PVC lines will be used to drain my sump pumps.

We laid some 4" perforated pipe to try and dry up the front yard a bit.

Bud busting some rock to clear room for the patio.

Finished floors.  We decided not to go as dark as planned since they looked so nice at this point.

Tiled fireplace.

Master bedroom.

Dishwasher and kitchen sink.

Still have to connect range hood.

Cochin, I believe, from TSC.

Another cochin, I believe, from TSC.

Day old bantam.  I think its an Old English Game Silver Duckwing.

Action shot.  I'd say 3/4 of the remaining eggs were not fertilized.

We're Moving In!!! Haha.... April Fools

After reading the title back to myself, I became depressed, even more.

We are still not in.  Bud is supposed to dig water and sewer lines tomorrow.  There was never a gas line ran up to the attic for the furnace, so that's been a pain trying to install.  Also, there was no duct installed for the range hood vent.  Going to have to cut out a bit of already finished and painted sheetrock to make that work.

So, besides several small items remaining, we have the faucet and toilet install, finishing of floors and painting trim (which I hope I can pay someone to do) left.  I'm hoping that in a month we'll be moving in.  I did say hoping.

Here a few pictures of what it looks like now. Not sure if I mentioned in a previous post, but big thanks to John and Robert for the help on the porch.  I wish I had them every weekend.

Ashley's disco ball.

If you look into the master bath, you can see the already installed cabinets had to be pulled back out so the plumber could install the tub.  Another wonderful surprise.

Bantams and red sex-links.
Here's weenie man.  Worthless.

Downstairs Floor Installation

They began installing the floors downstairs today.  They are 1x6 yellow pine.  The floor joists downstairs change direction in the living room so the floor was going to have to be installed perpendicular in that area.  Since the boards aren't tongue and groove on the ends, this may cause a noticeable seperation in the two areas.  The floor guy suggested running the boards diagonal which would allow a uniform installation and help ease some of the humps in the subfloor.  So, here it is...

Lights, Cabinets, Countertops...

Once again, the rain is the culprit.  However, there are signs of life.  The majority of the lights have been installed (and are working).  The kitchen and master bath cabinets have been installed as well as the countertops.  The porch is coming along too, it just needs decking, ceiling and guttering.

Kitchen, as seen from dining room.

Kitchen, looking at fridge and sink, the mudroom door is on the far right.

Stove and penninsula.

Master shower.  Just need glass and faucet trim.

Master bath cabinets.
Front porch.

Load of decking.

Still have a pile of junk to burn.

On a final note, a young girl drove her car through a few sections of our fence and scraped the bark of a couple of the pines. Still waiting on an insurace check and hoping its a nice one.

Enough With the Rain...

Hope everyone is staying more dry than we are.  Progress has been pretty good lately as the walls are painted and the tile should be finished by tomorrow.  The electrician is wiring the outlets, switches, etc.  If it would only dry out enough for me to do some grade work around the house, then we could get the heat pump up and running to acclimate the pine flooring and begin that install.  Also, the kitchen cabinets will hopefully be ready in a couple of weeks.

Alex's room.  He wanted two gray walls and two orange walls.
Kennedy's room.  Pink, of course.

Kids bath.  Going to have a shower curtain with a huge tree print on it so the ceiling will look like the top of the tree.

Upstairs hall.

Master shower.
Here's whats left on the roof install.  Its been like this for about a month now.  I keep getting "as soon as it dries up, we'll get it".

And now the fun part...

Sweet!  This is what the basement looks like every 2-3 hours.  The water mark on the 6x6's is what happens at about 4-5 hours, which is about waist deep at the deepest point.  Last night I drove to the house every 2 hours to pump it down.  Looks like I'll be doing it tonight as well.

Pump discharge.  It only takes the pump about 15 minutes to pump it down.

Creek's full.

Possibly a Class II ??  I need footage of someone running it in a kayak.
